Over the weekend I ran across one of my favorite boats on the Chesapeake Bay. For the last three years I have been following a thoughtful restoration of a boat that was built in Blue Hill, Me. in 1978. The hull was laminated in tooling belonging to Webbers Cove and then delivered to the close by facility of Brooklin Boatyard for completion. Joel White's signature appears on the builders certificate confirming that "Leeway" is the "real deal" Downeaster.
She was built for David Hollingsworth of Wilmington, De. and now under second ownership by a gentleman who comes from a significant sailboat background.
"Leeway" is currently stored in a building, available for sale, and an early spring launch!
